I was paging through a book about the history of Variety magazine, and spotted a photo of Neil Diamond. His Elvis like hair and stare grabbed me, so I did this sketch.
Neil was part of the fabled Brill Building school of writers, penning hits like ‘I’m a Believer’ and ‘The Boat That I Row’.
That’s really good! His eyes are perfect.
Ah yes – those were the days of hair! You really captured him! My kids looked at pictures of me and all the relatives in those days and their comment was – you guys sure were hairy! Again, great drawing.
O, and I love the “Yearn” art, too.
OK, Brill Bldg like Carol King and others, but did he really
deserve to be in “The Last Waltz”?
