Plugging the Pastel Pooch

I’m working on my first pastel piece:

I’m taking a pastel class, taught by my neighbor, Rick Stoner.  Above is my first pastel in progress.

I wanted to try drawing as if it was painting, but still having the ‘feel’ of drawing.  I’m having fun with the ‘workability’ of the pastels.  It’s easy to adjust lines and recolor areas, because the pastels easily cover lower layers.

It feels a lot like printmaking, where there are different ‘states’ of the composition.
